My family home.

Picture of Don Pike

Don Pike

My family home.

This is where I and my 8 siblings grew up in Jay, Maine.

Another winter view of the house and some of the buildings. The peaked building in the center is the Ice House. There was a pond where ice was harvested and stored in sawdust for use in the summer. The building to the left is the garage. This picture must be from early 40’s or late 30’s as I don’t remember ever seeing the ‘coop’ to the righ in the foreground.
This is a view of the ‘hen house’ that looks like it has been stitched together. The small building on the left is the well. From there the water is pumped up to all the buildings. The roof of the barn is behind the hen house and the house roof is visible to the right. This well was abandoned in the early 50’s as the runoff from the barn had percolated into the well water.
