The Chiricahua Mountains are located in southeastern Arizona with the highest point of 9,797 feet.
Historically a very important area for the indigenous tribes, this country was inhabited by the Apaches led by Geronimo, who surrendered to the American authorities here in Skeleton Canyon.
The mountain is strewn with volcanic rocks eroded into pillars topped by stone mounds, which gives a very striking look to the whole environment.
An exceptional geological phenomenon surrounded by rich flora and fauna left a strong impression on us and we had a great time touring this terrain.
