This is a 9 mile loop from First Water TH using the Second Water, Black Mesa and Dutchman trails. The accumulated elevation gain is 1100 ft. This hike has some great views of the Superstitions and Weavers Needle and has been another one of my favorites because of its moderate length and rough terrain. Unfortunately on August 20th of 2020, a lightning caused fire included this area and although it was considered a moderate intensity fire, some of the areas are severely impacted. The saguaros do not survive an intense fire. I am working on a video that will highlight the impact of non native plants on the Sonoran Desert.
